Spots and spores

For the last few years the webshop has been the financial backbone of Groene Takken. Lots of bulky and often very heavy packages containing Edible Wood have made their way all over the country and beyond. In fact, the webshop has grown so much that it has been necessary to construct a small team of co-workers to help process the many orders. This expansion has led to surprising but welcome consequences, more time to take small steps into a long-cherished personal wish, the world of consultancy.

The world of Edible Wood is definitely a niche market. Ten years ago almost nobody had heard of it. Nowadays it is a little more mainstream because of trends such as eating less meat and increased food self-sufficiency. Other factors such as a more sensitive approach to using natural resources and the development of food-forests have also played a role in increased awareness. In the last few years, small businesses, organizations and individual role models have sprung up embracing these more natural ways of living, hoping to project this onto their surroundings as well as educating fellow citizens. Often one of the aims is to work with Edible Wood and I can play a role by helping these people start up their own Edible Wood Farm or by just providing advice so that they continue further on their own.

Lots of trees, lots of places, lots of hungry people, lots of mushrooms. No waste.
