Edible Wood Farm Journal: 2025(11)
On a drizzly Sunday afternoon I was one of the local producers and concerned consumers who had come together to view the documentary film “Feeding Tomorrow”. Not particularly a feelgood movie but a rather drawn out illustration of undesirable farming practices followed by other more positive forms of food production and food literacy.
It is easy to influence opinions. What you see is most often not what you get. Large scale agriculture on the screen is not pretty. Misconception is close by, condemnation around the corner. Small scale farm holdings relate to our feelings of goodwill and wholesome attributes. Maybe the preferred choice of many but with the long hours and necessary multiple skillset it is not an easy life.
My opion is that whatever the type of farming, we need it all. Big and small. Not destructive but instructive. There are lot of mouths to feed on this planet. Continuously. A farmer produces food but does not tell the consumer what to eat. We do. You do. Use this power with care and wisdom.
